My name is Shelley, I’m a Potteries born freelance illustrator based in Liverpool, UK.
I'm currently studying for a Masters in Children's Book Illustration at the University of Central Lancashire, as well as running my business.
My favourite thing to do is travel and explore new places. I’m inspired by everyday life, architecture, pattern, ceramic design, folk art, picture books and the natural world.
I use pencil, watercolour, gouache, acrylic and sometimes collage materials in my work. My style is predominantly hand drawn and I like creating layers to my work. I combine bold colour and mark making with intricate drawing detail and pattern.
I graduated from John Moores University in 2009 with a B.A. in Graphic Arts and Illustration. I'm also a qualified Early Years Professional and former Enterprise Fellowship candidate for Shelley Jayne Illustration.
